Animal Caretaker

**Position Summary**:
The City of Manassas is seeking a part-time animal caretaker to work at the City's Animal Shelter **approximately 10-20 hours per week including some weekends and holidays**. The Animal Caretaker I supports the operations of the animal shelter in the care and feeding of animals, maintaining grounds and shelter, and assists the public with adoptions, redemptions, and release of animals.**

**This part-time position has no benefits.**

**This position is opened until filled and may be closed at any time.**

**Essential Job Functions**:
Applicants must have knowledge of the proper care and handling of animals, as well as the use and operation of restraint devices, technical and basic first aid equipment. Excellent customer service skills are required with the ability to handle cash transactions for the public.

**Minimum Required Qualifications**:
This position requires a High School diploma or GED; supplemented by some experience in animal care, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.

**Special Requirements**:
Incumbent must successfully complete required courses and certification such as euthanasia certification, snake education seminar, and van and wagon certification; may be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.
