**Duties**:

- Serves as an expert within OUSEA on the effectiveness of DOC's evaluation activities and evidence building functions; conducts wide-ranging research and development; carries out complex research projects; and develops and executes research programs.
- Integrates a variety of methods (qualitive and/or quantitative) to solve unique problems requiring novel approaches; develops new analytical methods to changing program requirements; evaluates new methods for broad and comprehensive projects/plans.
- Applies statistical theories, techniques and methods to the full range of statistical studies, projects, and programs,
- Executes projects activities, including the formulation of plans; analysis using statistical software; interpretation of findings; preparing results and recommendations; and reporting study findings, organizational activities, and accomplishes.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Education Requirement**:
A. Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

**OR**

**AND**

**Specialized Experience**: For the **Band III (GS-11)**, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the **Band II (GS-9)** in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: analyzing large datasets using statistical software such as Stata, R, and/or Python; combining datasets to create additional information; effectively communicating the empirical results from findings using newly constructed large and combined datasets to technical and non-technical audiences

OR

**Education**: Master's or equivalent graduate degree.

**Specialized Experience**: For the **Band IV (GS-13)**, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the **Band III (GS-12)** in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: analyzing newly constructed or linked data across multiple datasets using statistical software such as Stata, R, and/or Python to effectively communicate the empirical results to technical and non-technical audiences.

**Education**: Education cannot be substituted at this band/grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
