We are a small, friendly afterschool looking for a staff member who likes teaching children, but also enjoys field trips, creative projects, gym games, and playground activities which range from four square, ice skating, and tennis, to flying kites and building forts. The position involves working with mixed-aged groups of children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

We have a terrific staff and building, along with a great playground including tennis and basketball courts. We are located on Grove St. in Newton, close to the "T" (the Riverside stop on the Green Line). There is a good opportunity for advancement.

THIS IS NOT A SUMMER JOB but follows the school year (September - June). The hours are as follows:

- Monday 2:15 PM-6 PM
- Tuesday 2:15 PM-6 PM
- Wednesday 11:45 AM-6 PM
- Thursday 1:15 PM-6 PM
- Friday 2:15 PM-6 PM

Rec Place can accommodate any schedule of 2-5 days, provided you can work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 PM-6 PM. Pay is $20-$22 commensurate upon experience.

Your job entails planning activities and preparing snacks before the children’s arrival (you will be compensated for this time). When the children arrive your job entails eating and chatting with them, playing outside, and then running an hour-long activity. There will be opportunities to run activities in any of the rooms we have such as the gymnasium, art, or recreation room, but your main focus will be in the gymnasium. If you do not have prior teaching experience you can be paired with another teacher.

Bring your hobbies, your favorite childhood games, and your skills and share them with a group of great kids who are eager to learn and play. Camp experience is a plus, sense of humor is a must. This is a dynamic program with some traditions combined with various new staff and child-initiated activities.
