The Dane County Land and Water Resources Department has a current vacancy for an LTE Conservation Technician.

The Eligibility List created will be used to fill future vacancies over the next six (6) months.

**Limited Term Employees (LTEs) are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week.**

**DEFINITION**

**EXAMPLES OF DUTIES**
Conduct engineering surveys to be used for design of agricultural conservation practices utilizing current survey techniques and equipment (e.g. Total Station, GPS, UAS, etc.). Develop engineering designs using computer drafting programs and models (e.g. CAD, GIS, HydroCAD, etc.) for various agricultural conservation practices in accordance with appropriate NRCS technical standards and specifications. Conduct layout activities and construction oversight for agricultural conservation practices in accordance with appropriate standards and specifications. Develop as-built construction documentation for completed projects and certification. Follow appropriate documentation procedures. Keep daily records of activities, maintain records as assigned, and assist in the preparation of reports.

**Education, Experience & Special Requirements**

**Education, Training and Experience**:
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Natural Resources, Surveying, Computer Aided Design, Water Resources Management, or related field. Must also have two (2) years of relevant work experience in agricultural, environmental, and/or construction oversight, engineering design, soil & water conservation, or related fields.

**Special Requirements**:
Must have a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Must possess the following certifications within one (1) year of employment: Agricultural Engineering Practitioner Certification (obtained from DATCP and NRCS) for planning, design and construction associated with common conservation practices and technical standards; Ecological Systems Job Approval Authority (obtained from NRCS) for common conservation practices and technical standards; and Pilot’s License for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to conduct aerial surveys, imaging, and topographical assessments.

**Background Check Statement**:Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. **Physical and Environmental Work Requirements**:
Expected to work in normal office environment as well as outdoors in adverse weather conditions and terrain (e.g., wet/muddy terrain, steep slopes, livestock operations, construction sites, stream corridors, etc.). Ability to carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without adaptive devices. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, and walk. Ability to use finger, wrist, and arm motion.
