**What's the job?**:
The Assistant Director of Threat Intelligence is responsible for leading a team of analysts who will conduct intelligence gathering, threat tracking, and intelligence support for the organization. The primary focus of the team is to identify, assess, and mitigate cyber threats, but the role also involves broader threat intelligence activities as the team expands its scope and capabilities. Northwestern Mutual has built a robust threat intelligence offering and is looking for a dynamic leader to continue to develop the program and expand its capabilities. The role works under the Senior Director, Cyber Threat Operations within the Cybersecurity organization in Information Risk and Cybersecurity.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Manage and mentor a team of threat intelligence analysts who will perform intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination on cyberthreats and other relevant topics.
- Develop and maintain threat intelligence products, such as reports, briefings, alerts, and indicators of compromise, that provide actionable and timely insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, such as security operations, incident response, risk management, business units, and industry peers, to share and receive threat intelligence information and best practices.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other intelligence teams within the organization to ensure alignment and integration of threat intelligence efforts and outputs.
- Monitor and evaluate the threat landscape and emerging trends, and provide strategic and tactical recommendations to enhance the organization's security posture and resilience.
- Develop and implement threat intelligence processes, standards, and tools, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Conduct and support threat intelligence training and awareness initiatives for the organization.
- Accountable for a full range of manager responsibilities including communication, coaching, mentoring and staff development, performance management, salary administration, and staffing decisions. Participate in functional management to ensure optimum effectiveness and quality by leading adherence to strategies, goals, budgets, operating policies, and procedures as an NM frontline manager. Alignment of roles and responsibilities in decision-making.
- Accountable for translating the departmental strategy to cybersecurity operational objectives including both systems and processes. Drives for results through others to include:

- Integrating and designing measurement systems, targets, and specific initiatives in support of the various strategies
- Directing teams and individuals to ensure business outcomes are achieved
- Identifying and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders representing a broad range of functions and levels to ensure alignment with departmental and enterprise business strategies
- Accountable for an effective and efficient business unit designed and maintained to support the business outcomes. Responsible for the integration of:

- Organization/department design and structure
- Workforce management (forecasting, obtaining, developing, and assigning the right resources)
- Effective and efficient internal workflow and processes
- Information and knowledge flows throughout the business unit and out to the organization through both formal and informal exchanges
- Accountable for providing guidance and escalation avenues for the business unit based on understanding the business values, goals, work processes, and workflows
- Responsible for counseling the enterprise on interpreting and integrating cybersecurity support departmental and corporate strategies
- Accountable for evaluation, review, and approval of risk assessment and risk management strategies and processes to establish a foundation for appropriately managing systems and data risks.
