Custodian

**REPORTS TO**:Custodial Supervisor

**BASIC FUNCTION**:
Cleans and maintains offices, galleries, bookstore, café, restrooms, storage spaces and all other areas in the Brandywine Museum of Art and other buildings as assigned.

**POSITION RELATIONSHIPS**:
This position requires interaction with various staff members across multiple departments. It frequently requires quick responses to service requests.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Cleaning, mopping, waxing, dusting, vacuuming and other maintenance as needed.
- Set up and take down of special events and meetings in partnership with the Events Department
- Assists during floods, snow removal and other emergencies. Considered essential personnel for emergency response.
- This is an hourly non-exempt position with a 5-day work week (Monday through Friday) based on a minimum 35-hour work week.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must be available to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, snow days and emergency situations.
- Must be able to lift at least 60 lbs.
- Must be able to operate floor cleaning equipment, including a buffer.
- Must be able to push a mop or broom and use hand tools as needed.
- Must be able to climb at least five flights of stairs.
- Must be able to safely climb a ladder, bend and kneel.
- Must be able to manage their time effectively and devote resources as necessary to perform duties.
- Must have available transportation to and from the workplace and to other sites as may be necessary.

**SALARY RANGE**: $16.83-$17.89
