**Job Summary**:
Performs clinical tasks to include taking vital signs, recording medical history and explaining medical procedures/treatments to patients. Assists the provider during exams, changes dressings, collects specimens needed for lab tests and prepares, cleans, and sanitizes the exam rooms. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, ordering laboratory tests, updating patients' records, and handling patient billing matters and interacting with medical staff.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Prints out, schedules any labs, reports, and test results for that day.
- Maintains clinic area and exam rooms, daily cleans (wipe down after use), maintains all supplies (administrative and medical) by proper stocking and ordering.
- Prepares patient in exam room prior to being seen by the provider. Obtains vital signs, chief complaints, updates medical history. Informs provider of pertinent information received from the patient. Measures pediatric patients appropriately for well child exams. Ensures immunizations are up to date and identifies immunizations needed.
- Checks shot records for all well child visits for the day. Ensures patients needing immunizations fill out Immunization and Questionnaire/Consent form.
- Assists the provider during interview/exam of the patient by being attentive to all his/her administration/medical assistance requests.
- Schedules all referrals/tests as ordered by the provider. Completes all paperwork and calls patient with appointment time and instructions, if needed.

**Requirements**:
**Education**: must be a Certified Medical Assistant
**Experience**: Minimum 2 years experience in a primary care clinic
**Skills**: Basic Life Support (BLS); administering immunizations
**Knowledge**: Working knowledge of medical assistant responsibilities and procedures. Medical terminology knowledge is required.
**Abilities**: Ability to organize and work independently. Excellent communication skills; to function under stress; to stand for long periods of time during procedures; assist patients out of chairs or on and off tables; to lift 20-30lb pediatric patients.
