**Job Summary**:
Acts as a liaison between English and limited-English speaking guests, staff and patients/families by providing oral interpretation, (LIMITED) written translation services, as well as staff education and training. Provides support and serves as a resource for other department functions.

**Job Responsibilities and Requirements**:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interprets for patients, families and staff in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings. Forms of interpreting may include face to face, telephonic and video remote interpreting.
- Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
- Provides (LIMITED) translation of written documents, correspondence and patient education materials.
- Assists in explaining language access requirements/obligations and the cultural needs of diverse patient populations.
- Assists in the orientation and onboarding of new members of the regional language services team.
- Trains employees on regulatory requirements and the use of interpreter services through formal and informal training.
- Coordinates, prioritizes and organizes daily activities to ensure effective support is provided to the staff and patients.
- Actively participates in department workgroups and improvement initiatives.
- Strictly adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and the Interpreter’s Code of Ethics.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE
- One-year experience
- Spanish Language

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
