**Job Title**: Maintenance Crew Leader

**Job Type**: Full-time

**Job Description**:
The Maintenance Crew Leader will oversee ornamental gardens and their care which include clean-ups, general lawn mowing and edging, mulching, pruning, fertilization, weeding, installation of plants, and similar tasks.

The Maintenance Crew Leader serves as a model for exceptional service and performance to their peers. Their primary role is to enable their team to succeed by removing impediments to the technicians while keeping a clear line of communication open with management.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that the crew arrives at the job site safely and on-time
- Be responsible for ensuring all tools, equipment, and consumables pertaining to a job are appropriately counted, stocked, and available
- Educate fellow crew members regarding plant identification and characteristics of plant care
- Periodically evaluate the performance of their crew members
- Identify and strategically prune ornamental plants which include annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs
- Create new garden spaces by installing and maintaining annual and perennial plants
- Monitor, identify, annotate, and correct any pest problems that could pose danger to plant health
- Perform general maintenance such as mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and mulching
- Keep gardens and green spaces clear of unsightly detritus
- Maintain hardscapes

Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work and direct a diverse team of employees
- Capable of following and delegating written and/or verbal instructions
- Ability to use and demonstrate safe and effective ways to use simple hand tools and gas-powered equipment effectively and safely
- Be adept at communicating with clients and fostering a relationship between clients, their properties, and management

Required Qualifications
- A high school degree or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Horticulture experience
- Experience driving a truck with a tow-behind trailer
- Must be able to lift fifty pounds independently
- Must be able to remain on your feet for long periods of time
- Must be able to work out-of-doors in seasonal extremes

Preferred Qualifications
- Formal education in horticulture
- Familiarity with landscaping design
- Extensive knowledge of regional plant life
- Knowledge of local pests and how to eliminate them
- Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers
- Knowledge of state health and safety regulations for landscaping

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
