Early Childhood Teacher

The person selected for this position will be responsible for teaching, active supervision, and management of children between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years. This person must be prepared professionally as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of Early Childhood education or Child Development, This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. This person must have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity and mental capabilities to perform job description.

**Responsibilities** include, but not be limited to, the following:

- Serve as a leader for the classroom and provide guidance. Promote an atmosphere of teamwork where staff, parents and children interact positively with each other.
- Must be an effective team player
- Planning, supervising, and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the center
- Gearing the program to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents and individual style and pace of learning
- Implement screenings and assessments and reporting of outcomes for children.
- Abiding by the NAEYC code of conduct
- Helping children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group
- Being responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor and learning environment of the classroom
- Conducting parent conferences on children’s center adjustment and classroom behavior
- staff evaluations
- Using the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children
- Attending all staff meetings and recommended training programs and being responsible for one in-service staff meeting each school year
- Attending meetings and conferences of professional organizations appropriate for nursery school educators, sometimes as a representative of the center in place of the Director.
- Assuming an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff
- Physical capabilities - Must be able to lift 45lbs on a daily basis, numerous times a day

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Certification**:

- Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education Child Development, or a related field with 30+ hours in ECE/CD
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with 30+ hours in ECE/CD
- Working towards Gateways Credential Level 5- Early Childhood Education

**Preferred Experience**:

- Experience working in a Child Care Learning Environment
- Experience with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

- Associate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Early childhood education: 2 years (preferred)

License/Certification:

- Early Childhood Credential (CDA) (preferred)
