We are currently seeking an Investigations and Policy Specialist supporting the Congressional Investigations Practice and reporting to assigned attorneys and the Litigation Practice Coordinator.

The position will reside in the Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for providing research, media monitoring, and support to attorneys whose practice involves congressional investigations defense work. Investigations and Policy Specialists are assigned to work primarily on specific, politically sensitive government investigations, to carefully monitor congressional activities and media coverage, and to provide general assistance to a project team of attorneys. Investigations and Policy Specialists also provide targeted, strategic research and analysis. Investigations and Policy Specialists are expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

**Key responsibilities of this position include**:

- Monitor, summarize, and distribute in a timely fashion news coverage regarding current and potential client matters including after regularly scheduled hours and on weekends.
- Monitor congressional committee and key member activities, including hearings, press releases, and member statements regarding current and potential client matters. Draft written summaries of the same for attorney and/or client review.
- Conduct statutory, regulatory, or factual research with respect to client matters, including federal or state laws and regulations, relevant markets, corporate participants and industry standards and practices.
- Keep abreast of pending legislation, industry trends and current events that impact clients and prospective clients.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the congressional committees, political trends, the legislative process, and Capitol Hill.
- Collaborate closely with fellow specialist to effectively coordinate and manage responsibilities, ensuring efficient task completion.
- Stay updated on relevant research platforms and follow established procedures for sharing news and other materials.
- Coordinate and/or participate in meetings with members of the Congressional Investigations Practice and other relevant practices as needed.
- Handle other ad hoc projects as assigned by Congressional Investigations Practice attorneys and/or Practice Management.

**Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)**:

- BA/BS degree required
- A passion for following news and political developments
- Substantive knowledge of and familiarity with U.S. politics, media, and legislative process
- Prior experience in political, legislative, or Executive Branch setting desirable but not required
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate potentially detailed and complex information to others
- Aptitude and willingness to work with complex procedures
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to organize self and others
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
- Strong service orientation, and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users, peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners
