Job Purpose:
The Risk Assistant is responsible for scheduling and setting up all depositions for providers. The Risk Assistant is responsible for reviewing and auditing charts for the annual ISMIE Malpractice Assessment to assist with malpractice premiums. The Risk Assistant coordinates meetings with the physicians and their staff to review chart audit findings to ensure all protocols are followed to prevent risks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Coordinates provider depositions
- Works with medical records team to be sure charts for the providers are prepared to be reviewed prior to any malpractice cases or depositions and delivers to provider and attorney offices after completion as needed
- Audits the charts of providers who are up for their ISMIE Risk Assessment each year and selecting charts to ensure physicians receive a discount on their malpractice premium
- Coordinates and meets with physicians and their staff to review chart audit findings to re-review protocols for risk awareness
- Ensures providers complete their ISMIE Risk Assessments and assists them with completion
- Complete and submit ISMIE and PICA annual renewals
- Assists the Risk Manager in taking incoming calls from unsatisfied patients and completing/mailing dismissal letters via certified mail as needed.
- Receives and files incident reports and submits them to liability insurance if needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

- High school diploma GED required
- At least two years of experience in a similar position and/or performing similar tasks
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft and Google suites

Environmental/Working Conditions:
Working environment is in an office/clinic setting.

Physical/Mental Demands:

- Sit, stand, walk, stoop or kneel, crouch or crawl, and climb stairs for extended periods of time.
- Requires lifting, carrying and/or moving objects in a manner consistent with most office environments (generally, no more than 10 pounds on a frequent basis and 20 pounds on an occasional basis).
- Finger dexterity for typing on a keyboard and using a mouse for extended periods of time; ability to twist hands or wrists repetitively.
- Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder.
- Vision (e.g., depth perception, color vision, strong vision up close); hearing (e.g., high pitch sounds, soft or distant sounds).
