**Description**:
The Heat Treat Lab Technician is responsible for all mechanical, chemistry testing, and sample preparation for Heat Treat orders to ensure conformity to API/Customer specifications.

**Working Conditions**:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty, and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling, and/or pushing of materials and products up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but is not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
- **Qualifications**:

- A High School diploma and a minimum of 1 year of experience with mechanical and chemistry testing are preferred.
- Ability to read Write and Speak English, as well as solid arithmetic, critical thinking, and computer skills.
- Ability to organize vast amounts of data and multi-task several priorities with excellent time management.
- Visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
- Employees must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require overtime and weekends when needed.
- **Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for all mechanical and chemistry testing and sample preparation for Heat Treat orders to ensure conformity to API/Customer specifications.
- Keep Data Tracker updated accurately with results from tests performed.
- Maintain accurate records for all testing performed.
- Maintain familiarity with the BPU product, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain and operate the CNC for sample cuts.
- Communicate any issues promptly to the Supervisor and the Heat Treat team.
- Help train personnel working in the lab, and insure lab is maintained in impeccable order.
- Employees must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
- **Activities**:

- Perform mechanical and chemistry testing and sample preparation for Heat treatment.
- Report any discrepancies in test results to the Supervisor.
- Verify calibration and working condition of measuring equipment against standards.
- Complete all testing reports and enter results into the data tracker.
- This position may require operating a Forklift and Jib cranes.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
- Other duties as assigned.

4. Authority and Obligation:
4.1. Has the authority to stop the Heat Treat line at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety or product quality.

**Experience**: Preferred
- a minimum of 1 year of experience with mechanical and chemistry testing is preferred.
