Roadway Practice Lead

Job Summary

This is a full-time hybrid position reporting to Chief Operating Officer, based in Fairfax, Virginia.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway projects.
- Solicit contracts with Roadway tasks.
- Monitor team backlog in relation to the Business Plan, develop workload plans, and identify potential work-sharing opportunities.
- Review proposals (scope development/cost estimates/contracts) before final approval.
- Actively participate in Project Review meetings to manage financial expectations, bolster client relations, and explore project creation opportunities.
- Drive quality within the group and ensure that QA/QC processes are implemented on all projects.
- Perform lead discipline role in proposals and presentations.
- Analyze technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures and develop new approaches and solutions.
- Develop, mentor, coordinate, and grow technical staff.
- Implement recruiting, retention, and training strategies and skills development plans.

Education/Training and Experience
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with at least 15 years of relevant work experience.
- A Professional Engineer license required.
- Track record of successfully winning and delivering work in the mid-Atlantic region is preferred.
- Established relationships with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Experience in civil design of roadways, freeways, and/or interchanges.
- Demonstrated ability to profitably manage roadway projects.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication, including proposal writing and presentation skills.
- Strong public speaking ability and effective problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse clients and project teams.
- Technical proficiency and ability to manage complex projects.
- Strong practice and/or team-building skills, including planning, budgeting, and risk management.
- Knowledge of the regulatory processes in the mid-Atlantic region. Understanding of local, state, and federal permitting.

Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year

- 8 hour shift
