Medical Billing Office Data Entry Specialist

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Data Entry**: Accurately and efficiently enter patient demographic information, medical codes, and insurance details into electronic billing systems or databases.

**Claim Processing**: Review, edit, and submit insurance claims with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.

**Verification**: Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits to determine claim validity and facilitate proper billing.

**Payment Posting**: Record and reconcile payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other payers against billed amounts, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.

**Follow-up**: Monitor outstanding claims, identify and resolve billing discrepancies or rejections, and resubmit claims as necessary.

**Documentation**: Maintain comprehensive and organized records of billing transactions, adjustments, and communication with payers for auditing and reporting purposes.

**Compliance**: Stay up-to-date with healthcare regulations and insurance policies to ensure billing practices comply with legal and ethical standards.

**Communication**: Collaborate effectively with medical staff, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies promptly and professionally.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in medical billing and/or data entry roles
- Proficiency in using electronic medical billing software and databases.
- Knowledge of medical coding (e.g., CPT, ICD-10) and insurance billing procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently while adhering to deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of patient privacy and HIPAA regulations.
