Animal Shelter Caregiver currently available at Adopt-A-Dog of Armonk, NY (located just 10 minutes north of White Plains). Must have reliable transportation - public transportation is not available near our facility. Applicants must be over 18 years of age.

**Please note this is not a seasonal job for students home from college**

We are looking to fill part-time positions of roughly 24 hours per weekly. Weekdays & weekends required, once training is complete, typical shifts are 9AM-5PM or 10 or 11AM-6PM

Previous animal handling experience is highly recommended and preferred, but not required.

**Job Summary**:
Provides and maintains the health and well-being of all animals in our care.

**Specific Job Duties**:
*Responsible for daily thorough cleaning of all animals in our care. *Feeding and providing water for all animals, including special diets and medications. *Providing a healthy, safe, clean, and pleasant environment and facilities for the animals, other staff, and all visitors. *Spot cleaning of animals and public areas throughout the day. *Cleaning and upkeep of all buildings on the property including outside areas. *Monitoring the health of the animals at the shelter on an ongoing basis and reporting them to your direct supervisor. *Responsible for daily outings of all animals at the shelter. *Treating all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion at all times, regardless of the situation or circumstances. *Sorting and distribution of donations to designated areas. *Stocking supplies in an organized and efficient manner. *Maintaining a friendly demeanor and providing good and professional customer service while assisting volunteers and the public. *Working courteously and cooperatively with all staff members and volunteers. *Assisting with other duties and tasks as requested. *Follow all policies and procedures as well as work effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with the organization’s policies.

**Abilities and Qualities Required**:
*Ability to stay on your feet for the majority of your assigned shift. *Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50lbs for short distances. *Ability to work in all-weather situations including extreme heat/cold, rain, snow, etc. *Ability to handle dogs of all sizes. *Follow protocols for safe handling, exercise, and training, of all dogs as directed by the supervisor. *Affection for animals, concern for their well-being, and a willingness to accommodate animals in the workplace. *Must be punctual and reliable. *Strong interpersonal skills. The ideal person for this job would be personable, caring, outgoing, patient, and able to get along well with a variety of people. *Ability to communicate skillfully and effectively. *Maturity, good judgment, and strong problem-solving skills. *Flexibility & willingness to adapt to high-stress fast-paced environments and situations. *Ability to manage multiple tasks and have good time-management skills. *Ability and initiative to work with mínimal supervision or direction. *Must have a sincere interest in the work and mission of Adopt-A-Dog and adding to our success of rescuing and placing animals in need.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $16.00/hour.
