- Salary range: $53,956.00 - $58,186.00- NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
- The Sheriff’s Office serves and enforces court mandates, orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and property seizures. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office conducts criminal investigations of real property fraud, tax crimes, and the trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants referred by the courts for electronic monitoring.
- Accepting, cataloging, safeguarding, storing, returning to the legal owner, or otherwise legally disposing of all personal, found, and lost property coming into the custody of the New York City Sheriff's Office.
- Under certain circumstances, maintaining arrest evidence until furthered processed and may make bank deposits as required.
- When approved, returning personal property to individual owners.
- Performing or supervising security, courier and storage functions for the transport, inspection, storage and delivery of legal and illegal substances and property, such as narcotics, cash, vehicles, jewelry, etc., being held in evidence by the New York City Sheriff's Office and the facilities in which they are held.
- Proper packaging, labeling, vouchering, and signing for evidence and property being dispensed or received.
- Overseeing and ensuring the proper maintenance of written, typed, and computerized records, logs, etc.
- Reviewing audit reports and providing monthly reports.
- Supervising transfer of evidence and property to storage facilities and will maintain all evidence and property at the warehouse.
- Managing, seizing, and returning property from business centers.
- Coordinating property with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
- Preparing reports on the evidence and property control functions.
- Must stay continuously aware of evidence trends and provide best practice recommendations on evidence and property.

Minimum Qualifications1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in criminal justice, forensic auditing, forensic science, police science, criminology, criminal justice administration and planning and/or law or a related field; or

2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in the field stated in “1” above and two years of satisfactory, full time experience as an investigator performing investigations involving criminal and/or fraudulent activities, corrupt, unlawful or unethical nature involving public or private funds; or

3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory, full time experience as in “2” above.

Special Notes:
Peace Officer eligibility and driver license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Employee must be found eligible to access both US Department of Justice and US Department of Treasury databases.
