Duties

This position is located under the Office of Field Operations, Special Operations Division, Technical Operations Branch located in Sterling, Virginia.

The Incumbent serves as a branch chief in a Headquarters Branch of the Bureau, responsible for criminal investigations, law enforcement programs, functions, or operations encompassing the overall law enforcement mission of the organization to which assigned. Provides investigative expertise and oversight for criminal investigations and organizational performance relating to law enforcement programs.

**Some Duties of the Position Include**:

- Submitting recommendations and decisions that reflect effective analysis of budgets, strategic plans, staffing plans, work studies, and other pertinent material.
- Advising the deputy division chief and/or division chief on significant issues and matters.
- Developing and implementing branch policies, practices, and procedures.
- Submitting recommendations and decisions that reflect effective analysis of laws and regulations.
- Planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing studies and surveys to evaluate branch programs and ensure efficiency and economy of operations.
- Conducting short
- and long-range planning for overall branch goals and objectives in response to changes in legislation pertaining to branch programs and projects.
- Furnishing technical information and advice to field division chiefs, and/or special agents in charge in order to provide direction and uniformity in branch programs/projects.
- Coordinating projects/programs with management officials in other branches and divisions, and at ATF Headquarters, DOJ, or other Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies.
- Representing ATF in interagency meetings and conferences.

Must be available for frequent travel throughout the United States and its territories, as well as some international travel, during the course of assignments.

**Key Requirements**:

Requires proficiency with a firearm per ATF's Standard.

**Qualifications**:
