**About the Job**:We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, community-driven Executive Director to lead The Diatribe, Inc. in our next phase of organizational growth We are working toward this next phase of our growth after nearly 6 years as an official nonprofit and 10 years of being a literary and arts leader in West Michigan. The new executive director will champion our new initiatives while amplifying and deepening our longstanding work in the West Michigan community. **About the Organization**:The Diatribe is a Queer-, Black-, and Brown-led team where we harness the power of restorative art to challenge historical systems of oppression, reimagine education, and foster a vision of liberation accessible to all. Through art activism and a commitment to radical imagination, we prioritize collective liberation, educational freedom, community, and youth voice. Our work is grounded in transparency, intersectionality, inclusivity, and mutually supportive community care.

**About the Work**:
The Executive Director will lead The Diatribe, Inc., in achieving its mission and strategic objectives, overseeing all aspects of organizational operations, program development, fundraising, community engagement, and financial sustainability. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for the arts, strong management skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

**In this role, you will help address the following:Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization's mission and goals.
- Oversee all aspects of organizational operations, including program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Lead the execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's financial sustainability, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, community partners, and other stakeholders to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.
- Manage the organization's financial processes effectively, including budget development, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
- Supervise and support staff members, volunteers, and interns, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement policies, procedures, and governance structures to ensure organizational effectiveness and compliance.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of the organization's facility, including event rental spaces, residential apartments, and retail venues.
- Comply with all national, state, and local regulations as they relate to maintaining status and remaining in good standing as a 501c3 organization.
- Represent the organization in public forums, media interviews, and community events to promote its mission and values.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in the arts and nonprofit sectors, advocating for policies and initiatives that benefit the organization and its constituents.
- Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred), or equivalent lived experience including work in nonprofit management, arts and culture, or education and familiarity with greater Grand Rapids and West Michigan.
- Proven track record of at least 6 years of leadership and management experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably within arts and culture organizations.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, capital campaigns, and cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, and revenue generation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
- Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, particularly in educational and community outreach initiatives.
- Knowledge of local arts and cultural landscape, with a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Familiarity with facility management, event planning, and rental operations.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, think strategically, and drive organizational growth and innovation.

- Initial screening interview over video call.
- 2-3 interviews over video call with different members of the team.
- In-person interview with the Board and team, and a presentation portion, including a community town hall. Skills assessment over video call which may include an assignment to complete beforehand and present during the final meeting. All necessary information and guidance will be provided in advance.
- References, usually three, will be requested and reference checks and background checks will be conducted.
