**Job Overview**:
The Patient Safety Aide is a caregiver who is visually attentive to a patient at risk due to meeting the criteria and having an order for a 1:1 patient watch.

**Qualifications**:

- Required:_
- High School Diploma
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

**Certifications and Licenses**:

- BLS certification through American Heart Association

**Scheduling Requirements**:

- Days 7:00AM - 3:00PM
- Schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
- Per-Diem
- 2 Week Mandatory Orientation

**Essential Functions**:

- Accompanies transported patients to ancillary departments and other nursing units
- Activates call lights and calls for patient assistance promptly and courteously
- Assists staff in completing personal hygiene for assigned patients
- Assists staff with patient positioning and repositioning as required
- Assists with ambulating
- Assists with feeding
- Endorses watch to next shift Safety Aide or other staff as appropriate
- Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives
- Performs all duties as assigned
- Records data in Patient Watch Observation Log as appropriate
- Reports patient complaints, problems, or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate to RN
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations
- Understands information pertinent to assigned patients
