**Summary**
The Director of Student Engagement and Inclusion is responsible for the planning and management of student focused programs and initiatives to facilitate understanding of equity and inclusiveness within college and community for the changing community college student. The DSEI manages operation of the J.E.D.I. (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) Center, including staffing, programming, and facility usage. The DSEI develops innovative projects and strategies for student engagement to cultivate inclusive excellence, community building and sense of belonging for all students. The DSEI ensures that J.E.D.I. Center programming encourages authentic non-judgmental dialogue and learning about underrepresented identities, intersectionalities, cultural competence, and leadership for advancing inclusiveness. In addition, the DSEI works closely with all students at LCCC to ensure that the J.E.D.I Center is a place that welcomes all student through workshops, events and gathering opportunities. Must be available to travel to all LCCC off-campus sites. Reports directly to the Dean of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Inclusion.
**Salary is restricted to above range and will not exceed the maximum of the range. Salary offers are non negotiable and offers are determined and are based upon related work experience submitted on resume.**
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Work collaboratively across departments, to develop and implement student focused programs and initiatives to enhance cultural intelligence, understanding of equity and inclusiveness within college and community.
- Manage all operations of the J.E.D.I. Center, including staffing schedules, coordination of activities and events, general supervision of facility usage. Works closely with Student Life and College Relations with outreach to all students to utilize the J.E.D.I Center and learn about opportunities available to all students.
- Ensure that J.E.D.I. Center programming encourages authentic, nonjudgmental, open-minded dialogue utilizing practices consistent with values of inclusivity, community building, equity, and sense of belonging.
- Teach 1-2 sections of the first year Aspira course, meet with and mentor students.
- Assist in managing the Latinx Scholarship.
- Recruit and orient faculty to teach additional sections of the Aspira course, providing coaching as needed, relative to curriculum, pedagogy, student support services and co-curricular opportunities for students.
- Serve as an advocate to help address challenges and biases that might inhibit student development, sense of belonging and the ability to thrive in the campus community.
- Create and implement a programming portfolio that expands students’ knowledge of underrepresented identities, intersectionalities, cultural competence, and provide leadership for advancing inclusiveness.
- Plan and execute an annual academic calendar of student events/activities/projects at main campus and sites, to welcome all students to the JEDI Center and maintain relevant data of utilization of the Center.
- Seek and continuously participate in professional development to enhance organizational transformation to better support the changing needs of community college students.
- Research best practices in peer institutions on an on-going basis to consider strategies to enhance student success and identify areas for growth or improvement.
- Research grant opportunities and participate in grant writing and management of grant implementation and reporting.
- Provide advising and liaison support for the Student Advisory Council for Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (SACEIB) and also working closely with the Director of Student Life and student clubs.
- Be a resource for departments and services in their review of policies, procedures, and protocols with a diversity, equity, and belonging lens to reduce unintentional bias.
- Identify institutional policies, procedures, and/or barriers that may lead to or contribute to attrition and propose changes through the appropriate channels and to assist with student retention.
- Implement evidence-based assessment strategies to measure effectiveness in meeting service goals, identify strengths and strategies to enhance service quality and student outcomes.
- Serve on college committees and task forces, as assigned to bring forward student engagement and inclusion perspectives.
- Complete other tasks and initiatives as assigned.
