Associate Retail Buyer

Description:
**Position Overview**: The Associate Retail Buyer will be responsible for curating and purchasing retail products that align with Vibrant’s image and market strategy.

**What You Will Do**:

- Responsible for sourcing and buying products while adhering to plan fulfillment and inventory level management
- Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors through facilitated meetings with appropriate agenda
- Navigate the return process while remaining in compliance with the vendor and Vibrant contracts
- Identify and arrange partnerships and collaborations, both internal and external
- Manage and maintain processes such as sample and return of goods, merchandise re-orders, store-to-store and warehouse transfers, markdowns, and order tracking in a timely manner
- Research of sale trends and communicate findings and conclusions effectively
- Manage and maintain merchandise inventory process and related data entry process with accuracy, including audits
- Conduct and execute regular reporting (month-end, quarterly, ad hoc)
- Collaborate with other departments on reporting and data needs (Accounting, Data, etc.); present data and recommendations
- Effectively conduct price negotiations, contract terms, and other agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings and maximize value
- Employ margin management through markup and markdown strategies using data from sales
- Conduct forecast and modeling exercises for margin strategy
- Maintain trend and general industry awareness knowledge
- Manage Credit Union and external merchandise operations including online store orders, internal gift/giveaway requests, etc.
- Prepare store communications and conduct feedback collection activities, such as store visits, phone calls, and meetings
- Maintain ticketing standards for distribution
- Manage and maintain product intake processes
- Drive and execute timely distribution to plan
- Manage and maintain distribution supply for inventory and ordering
- Drive and execute quality control to standard

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail, or related field
- 5+ years’ experience as a Retail Buyer or similar role preferred
- Strong knowledge of e-commerce, retail trends, merchandising formulas, products, and suppliers
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

**Reports to**
- Merchandise Manager

**Environmental and Physical Activity Requirements**:This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, walking, finger dexterity, reaching, stooping, and grasping functions. The position also often requires reaching and lifting (up to 25 pounds). Frequent sitting, standing, and repetitive motion activities are also required. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted indoors at controlled degrees of temperature.
