Allyn International is looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our organization Allyn is a privately-held professional services firm established in 1992. What does a Logistics Specialist do?

Logistics Specialists manage logistics activities, meet business fulfillment requirements, and support transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects and services as well as providing logistics support, consulting, and obtaining best possible transportation rates.

Position Details

**Location**: Scotia, NY
**Work Schedule**: 40 hours, 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday (some weekend / afterhours support / on-call rotation may be required)
**Position Classification**: Full-Time; Salaried Exempt, Entry-Level
**Compensation**: $40,000-50,000.00 annually
**Physical Demands**: Sitting, typing, and talking on the phone
**Work Environment**: Cubicle, office setting. 1 day per week remote.

**Required Experience and Education**:

- Bachelor’s or equivalent college degree required
- Microsoft Office experience required
- Customer service experience preferred
- Problem solving skills
- Sense of urgency
- Excellent customer service
- Excel proficiency

**Responsibilities**:

- Route cargo in accordance with legal and customer requirements.
- Coordinate the routing process with clients, freight forwarders, and customers.
- Accurately issue shipping documentation such as certificates of origin, customs invoices, packing lists, and certificates of insurance
- Reliably track and expedite progress of specialized shipments
- Capture all costs associated with a shipment.
- Actively look for an capture savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible
- Actively participate in team meetings, conference calls, and daily project management calls with Allyn team and with the client
- Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and other transport regulations compliance management, including permitting, over dimensional, and Hazmat
- Eliminate or minimize risk exposure for Allyn and customers
- Maintain online tracking and metrics tools
- Track and resolve freight claims
- Provide excellent customer service to Allyn customers
