Futurelink is a leading woman-owned organization helping to drive STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) literacy.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced math tutor to join our team and provide exceptional tutoring services to students in 9th and 10th grades. As a math tutor, you will play a crucial role in helping students build a strong foundation in math concepts, improve their problem-solving skills, and achieve academic success.
Tutoring will be done in students home.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in 9th and 10th grades.
- Cover a comprehensive range of math topics, including but not limited to:
- Algebra: Linear equations, quadratic equations, functions, inequalities, polynomials, systems of equations.
- Geometry: Basic geometry concepts, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, polygons, area, volume, and geometric proofs.
- Pre-Calculus: Graphing functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, conic sections, sequences, and series.
- Explain complex math concepts in a clear and concise manner, using multiple teaching strategies to ensure understanding.
- Help students develop effective study habits and organizational skills to enhance their academic performance.
- Monitor students' progress and provide regular feedback to parents or guardians.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educators to support students' learning goals and academic success.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in math, education, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Previous experience as a math tutor or teacher, with a strong understanding of 9th and 10th grade math curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and build rapport.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed academically.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.
- Familiarity with standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT.
- Certification in math education or tutoring is a plus
**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 15 per week
