**Job Summary**

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide clinical advice and supervision to nursing and patient care staff
- Support and advise the Executive Director on efficient clinical practice of nursing and patient care staff, ensuring appropriate skill mix to promote the highest standard of service
- Assist patients obtaining services to evaluate their health outcomes and adjust nursing and patient care staff practices to ensure optimum co-coordination and delivery of care
- Review and recommend changes to nursing and patient care staff clinical protocols according to most recent guidelines.
- Review nursing documentation and maintain standards with regards to policy on documentation including, educating nursing and patient care staff on documentation standards
- Identify the training needs of nursing and patient care staff, and facilitate how to appropriately meet those needs
- Regularly assess the clinical competence of nursing and patient care staff and determine need for improvement to meet minimum required competency levels
- Develop ongoing learning strategies including tutorials, instructional sessions, and supervised practice sessions, regarding the use of medical and patient care equipment or best clinical care skills
- Foster an atmosphere conducive to learning for all nursing and patient care
- Interact as needed with local schools, colleges and universities requesting training sites for students

**Qualifications**
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing at the Bachelor’s level and have an unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in CA
- MUST have own malpractice insurance
- Demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with persons experiencing homeless, discrimination, and economic hardship
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, including active listening, to influence others build constructive relationships and achieve outcomes
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problem solving in conjunction with higher level staff and the Executive Director
- Ability to accept and delegate responsibility, make sound judgments, and accurately assess when to refer issues to higher level staff and the Executive Director
- Manages own workload effectively while being flexible to new demands
- Demonstrates a high level of oral and written communication
- Demonstrates effective computer skills
- Has the ability to integrate well with, and contribute to, a multidisciplinary team
- Preferred: 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, including as a lead nurse, unit manager, or nursing director, leading and developing clinical practice within a person-centered framework
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional certification
- MUST pass a background check
