STRIVE has provided enrichment services in Essex County for over a decade and has served more than 4,500 student and their families in the greater Newark area. Our Right Track Enrichment Program for high school students, provides students with college and career planning services with realistic education exploration that help to guide student through their college and career discission making process.

Strive is looking to hire a Bi-lingual Employment Specialist to support our student through the 2023-2024 school year. Under the general direction of the Program Supervisor and in collaboration with the Program Administrator, the Employment Specialist will provide job development, help participants with job searches, and provide resources for job development in order to meet their employment goal plans. This person will also coordinate workshops specifically targeting areas of career development and job placement; and perform other related duties as assigned.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Sourcing and obtaining appropriate employment, internship and training opportunities for program youth.
- Developing strong relationships with employer partners and facilitating activities with employers including site visits, recruiting events, career presentations, job shadowing, and other employment related activities.
- Providing ongoing post-placement support and troubleshooting for youth after placement in internships/employment.
- Maintaining ongoing communication and positive relationships with employers/internship hosts, including troubleshooting.
- Facilitating employment readiness groups on topics including, but not limited to: career exploration, job search strategies, workplace skills, interviewing skills, goal setting and career advancement.
- Coaching youth individually on job search, interviewing, employment retention and career management skills.
- Collaborate with youth’s vocational counselor and other program staff in the interest of youth’s development of employability skills.
- Coordinate job development and placement for students eligibility for employment assistance
- Provide documentation and data reporting as needed

**Expected Areas of Competence**
- Ability to prepare and maintain required documents for all youth in program.
- Able to communicate effectively with public, community, city officials and youth in both English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office Suite.
- Must be able to interact in a sensitive and positive manner.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

**Education/ Experience Requirements**
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- College degree preferred.
- Must be able to read and write in Spanish and English.
- Must have at least one (1) year experience working with youth.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
