The LPN is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibility delegated to her/him so long as such action does not deviate from established policy and practice as defined by Pennswood Village and the current Pennsylvania LPN Practice Act in the supervision of the Home Care Supervisor within all levels of care.
- Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the individual patient plan of care as a part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate and objective written and oral communication.
- Function as a professional LPN under the direct supervision of the RN in charge or, in the absence of an RN, function as the nurse in charge.
- Carry out professional responsibilities both independently and in collaboration with other staff. Plan and manage patient care assignments.
- Responsible for the distribution of prescribed medications to residents.
- Provide demonstration, supervision, and evaluation of care given by nurses aides and the orientation of new staff.
- Participate in the development of patient care policies and the standards of nursing practices.
- Establish safe and accurate working habits in the delivery of individual patient care.
- Consistently seek to extend professional knowledge and improve skills.
- Maintain and ensure the personal rights of all patients through knowledge and leadership in advocating the Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Actively participate in monitoring the medical alert and fire alarm systems.
