Behavior Intervention Technician

**Job Summary**: Delivers services including (but not limited to) Community Integration, assisting Activities Coordinators, and crisis intervention. May be assigned to support an individual 1:1 as needed during times of crisis and activities. In addition, the secondary focus is to implement proactive components to all Behavior Support Plans for a specific individual diagnosed with varying degrees of Intellectual disabilities, Physical Disabilities, and other developmental disabilities.

**Education and Qualifications**:
1. BA in Human Services field

OR

BA degree (non-Human Services) and 6 months experience working in related field.

OR

High School Diploma/GED and 1 year experience working in human services or related field.

Preferred enrollment in accredited human services BA program.

3. Maintain valid NYS driver’s license within agency criteria required.

5. SCIP-R certification; within 60 days of employment and maintain.

**Essential Functions**:

- Works with individuals during times of crisis (in conjunction with the support of the Psychology department & classroom staff).
- Carries out behavioral interventions within approved SCIP-R guidelines; well versed in Behavioral Support Plan of the individuals they support and overall Behavior Support principles (i.e., proactive components, relaxation techniques, etc.).
- Works with individuals they support in various settings (i.e., classroom/program/community) as directed.
- Maintains close proximity to the individual while in behavioral crisis (i.e., QR support/supervision).
- Participates as an integral part of the ITT team. Provides input regarding an individual’s overall behavioral needs, (i.e., materials, assuring proactive, active and reactive components are being executed according to Behavioral Support Plan, etc.).
- Collects behavioral data, records entries in logbooks when needed, and completes other paperwork as designated by classroom Activities Coordinator, Psychology Department & program management. Assists Activities Coordinator in maintaining a daily log of the individual’s activities. This would require that records are completed, data is compiled, and all additional paperwork is completed as required by regulations. As well as completing monthly paperwork for the individuals they support.
- Assists in collecting behavioral data and is able to role model appropriate data collection needed for psychiatric appointments, ITT’s, etc.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
