The **Principle Scientist** is considered technical expert within the company and is responsible _for, _
- Guiding and providing Technical expertise to solve unique and complex problems _Communicating difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different view. _As technical SME guide project teams when needed._ _Allocating time and resources efficiently, effectively prioritize, and continually seeking ways to improve individual and corporate efficiency,_
- This part time position is part of the Cepheid’s Government program R&D group and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA. Cepheid is FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization. **In this role, Principle Scientist** **will have the opportunity to**
- _ Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease field and basic knowledge of related disciplines_
- _ Help Design and develop the unique PCR based product _
- _Act as a SME for external/Internal collaborators_
- _ Gain knowledge and utilize State of Art best practices and integrate those with project(s)_
- _ Lead others to takes a new perspective using existing solutions to resolve project related issues_
- _ Perform required studies to demonstrate feasibility_
- _ Work independently, but also receive guidance only for most complex problems_
- _ Positively Impact a range of internal and external customers, and other related teams _

**The essential requirements of the job include**
- _Bachelor’s degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 8+ years of related work experience_
- OR_
- _Master’s degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 6+ years of related work experience_
- OR_
- _Doctoral degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 3+ years of related work experience_

**It would be a plus if associate also possess previous experience in**:

- _ IVD assay development on GeneXpert platform with experience in bacterial/viral assay development_
