The Family Support Specialist promotes children's development through services that support early learning, health, and family well-being through collaboration with families, our education teams, and community partners.

The Early Education Division is dedicated to ensuring children have the knowledge and skills to be successful in school and life through service delivery to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way. Head Start encompasses Head Start preschool programs, primarily serving 3- and 4-year-old children, and Early Head Start programs for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women.

We Require
- Two years of case management experience
- A certificate, credential, or Associate’s degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Education or a closely related field

Job Contributions
- Builds collaborative relationships with parents of the assigned areas to establish trust and educates parents on available resources in the area served
- Initiates and maintains co-operative partnerships with community agencies that provide health, social, employment, and educational services. Refers families for services in the community, assists the family in accessing services, and monitors service completion
- Initiates and maintains co-operative partnerships with assigned area’s Education team to ensure families receive quality comprehensive services
- Facilitates, encourages and supports parent involvement in each area; organize and carry out parent committee meetings and parent training activities based on the needs of the families. Makes periodic home visits to each family enrolled in the program schedules around working families’ availability
- Partners with the family to identify family goals, strengths, and needed services and support. Develops a Family Partnership Agreement for each family enrolled in the program and supports the family in plan implementation
- Maintains current, accurate and confidential records (paper and electronic) and runs reports to track services to ensure program compliance for all children and families enrolled in the program
Working Conditions
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
- Must complete a background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must complete a medical exam that includes screening for tuberculosis (TB)
- Must obtain a CPR, first aid, and food handler’s certification within six weeks of hire
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish may be required for some positions
- Work is performed in classrooms located throughout Maricopa County, parents’ home, or at parent’s employer
Selection ProcedureMust pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
