Maintenance Worker/groundskeeper

**Maintenance Worker 1 Grounds for the Code/Housing Department**
**DEFINITION**:Under direction, performs routine work in caring for and maintaining exterior city owned parcels, privately owned parcels as assigned and related property maintenance tasks - Facility grounds, and other landscaped and lawn areas; performs other related duties as required.
**LICENSE**:Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
**EXAMPLES OF WORK**:
- Learns to keep lawns and other outside areas healthy and visually appealing
- Trims and cuts grass and hedges;
- Operates lawn mowers, weed whackers, edgers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities;
- Removes and unloads litter from grounds, including bagging and loading debris, garbage, and unwanted waste;
- Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas, sweeps walks and spreads salt; Rakes leaves and debris;
- Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals; Loads and unloads truck; Boards/secure vacant structures;
- Additional duties as required.
Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

Pay: $35,525.00 per year
