Overview:
Marshmallow’s Hope is a nonprofit organization focused on youth suicide prevention.

As a Therapeutic Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting at-risk youth by providing guidance, mentorship, and positive role modeling. You will engage with youth in various community activities and outings, fostering their personal growth, social skills, and emotional well-being.

**Responsibilities**:

- Establish rapport and build trusting relationships with at-risk youth through regular interactions and activities.
- Plan and coordinate community outings, recreational activities, and social events tailored to the interests and needs of youth participants.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and guidance to youth facing challenges such as behavioral issues, academic struggles, or family conflicts.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor, demonstrating healthy coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and constructive communication techniques.
- Assist youth in developing life skills, such as decision-making, conflict resolution, and self-regulation, to enhance their independence and resilience.
- Collaborate with case managers, therapists, and other professionals involved in the care of youth to ensure coordinated and holistic support.
- Monitor and document progress, achievements, and challenges of youth participants, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of youth within the community and educational settings, promoting inclusion, acceptance, and access to resources.
- Stay informed about best practices, trends, and emerging issues related to youth mentoring, mental health, and trauma-informed care.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with at-risk youth, preferably in a mentoring, coaching, or counseling capacity preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of youth development principles, adolescent psychology, and trauma-informed care approaches preferred but not required.
- Empathy, patience, and resilience to navigate challenging situations and build rapport with youth facing adversity.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for community outings and activities, as well as auto insurance.
- Commitment to professional ethics, boundaries, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative environment.

Pay: $17.35 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
