**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**: 12 Month Position - Full Time 5:30am - 2:30pm

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s license. Illinois CDL License with school bus passenger endorsement preferred. Assistance and training is provided for eligible applicants.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works collaboratively with the Director in the administration of the student transportation services program which meets the requirements of the instructional program and extracurricular activities; in accordance with state law and policies set forth by the Board of Education.
- Responsible for assigning driver routes on a daily basis, troubleshooting, evaluating efficiency of daily operations in accordance with Board Policy, established procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Produce reports, custom listings, forms and tabulations from computerized data.
- Work with principals, parents, and bus drivers regarding scheduling, route design, concerns, and student code of conduct as it relates to student behavior on buses.
- Maintain constant radio communication with bus drivers.
- Maintain accurate and efficient recordkeeping.
- Promote safe practice for all transportation employees.
- Assists in routine office operations.
- Collects and prepares data for computerized routing program. Adds, deletes or corrects student and route information.
- Maintains lists by school and category to assure all trips and athletic events are covered throughout the year.
- Establishes and monitors bus routes for the regular school year and summer school.
- Keeps track of route changes and student changes.
- Covers bus routes and/or activities on an as needed basis.
- Communicates with the public and school employees in a courteous and respectful manner regarding route and student issues.
- Assists the office staff in communicating with parents, staff and other school personnel. Ensures timely and appropriate responses.
- Attends and assists in all training and in-service staff development.
- Contacts and assigns stand by drivers and substitutes for coverage of regular driver.
- Assist the Director in the administrative forecasting and planning for district service area.
- Initiates, and follows through in the processes required for new transportation employees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
