**REPORTS TO**:Campus Principal

**WAGE/HOUR STATUS**:Nonexempt

**PAY GRADE**:Para 4

**PRIMARY PURPOSE**:
The Counselor Secretary will provide clerical/administrative support to the school counselors; conveying information regarding school and/or District functions and procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Required**:

- High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution

**Preferred**:

- One+ years secretarial/clerical experience in school setting

**SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS**:

- Ability to work well with students, parents and staff
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Proficiency in use of computer
- Ability to organize and prioritize work

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:

- Provide general secretarial service
- Compose documents/correspondence to communicate information to staff, students, parents and public
- Evaluate situations and take appropriate action or direct to appropriate personnel
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws/regulations
- Assist with standardized testing
- Develop knowledge of school policies and counseling procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality
- Schedule and supervise student aides
- Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
- Obtain knowledge of student information program
- Perform all other duties as assigned

**WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS**:
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:
Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
