Currently, we are looking for one (1) Music Director for Protestant Services on Joint Base Myer Henderson-Hall located in Arlington, VA.

**Location**: Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall; Arlington, VA

**Work Hours/Days**:
This is a part-time position with an anticipated number of hours per week to be approximately 12.

**Dress Code**:Professional

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Lead the congregation in worship while playing a piano/keyboard/organ (electric type keyboard) as the primary musical instrument.
- Coordinate the approved musical selections designated Chaplain, volunteers, vocalists, musicians, and congregational coordinator for the service.
- Provide weekly detailed music selections to the Congregational Point of Contact/coordinator three business days prior to performance to allow for lyrics to be printed in the worship bulletins and added to the presentation software.
- Provide all required and appropriate musical support, to include prelude and postlude, offertory, singing of hymns, chorus’, spiritual songs, and special music that enhances the atmosphere of worship, and other musical additions during designated worship services and rehearsals.
- Direct, coordinate, coach, and integrate all musicians, technicians, and vocalists involved with music ministry.
- Lead a weekly music rehearsal with other members of the music team.
- Comply with all Chapel Instructions and Chapel Operating Instructions, specifically those regarding facility usage, resource protection, fire protection, funds utilization, and safety.
- Provide musical directorship for the Protestant Services.
- Follow the direction of Chaplain for musical selections.
- Lead the praise team and congregation in worship and vocally lead them as required by the Chaplain.
- Coordinate all support requirements with the Chaplain or their designated representative.
- Assist the Chaplain or their designated representative in developing the following in regards to Music Programs as appropriate: annual calendar of events, Chapel Tithes and Offerings fund budget, Appropriated Fund budget, and core volunteer training requirements.
- Return any and all government-owned music scores and equipment obtained in the performance of the required duties following the last service.
- Comply with all U.S. copyright laws. Not engage in the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted materials by photocopying or any other means that would expose the government to liability for penalties under existing or future copyright laws.
- Attend meetings related to the music program as identified by the Chaplain or their designee.

**Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills**:

- Be able to sing and vocally lead congregation in worship.
- Be able to skillfully play either a guitar and/or piano.
- Be able to plan organize and lead a Protestant style praise team.
- Be able to sight read, arrange, improve, play, and score music.
- Sing and play music in keeping with a Contemporary, Protestant style, music service. Possess the ability to develop and maintain a healthy and positive relationship with volunteers.
- Have two or more years of college in music (or related field), or equivalent years of related experience in a chapel/church setting.
- Be fluent in reading, writing and speaking English in order to perform all responsibilities.
- Have proficient skills to musically follow the preacher/Chaplain, during the sermon, to appropriately amplify the preached message.
- Present a neat and clean, well-groomed, modest, and business-like appearance during performance of duties (conservative business professional dress for services and business casual dress for rehearsals).
- Must be willing and able to successfully pass a background check.
- Must have reliable transportation with up to date, adequate vehicle insurance.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week

Schedule:

- Weekends as needed
