**Primary Purpose**: To effectively handle all district funds in accordance with School Committee policy and all state and federal regulations.Major Responsibilities: 1)Be aware of all funds received and disbursed and prepare a monthly statement for the School Committee indicating cash flow and needs for borrowing in anticipation of revenue.2)Monitor expenditures consistent with budget appropriations.3)Administer the districts investment program, including investing funds to provide maximum interest income.4)Make recommendations on accounting policies with respect to maximum security of funds.5)Give bond for the faithful performance of specified duties in such amount as prescribed by state law. The premium on such bond to be paid for by the School Committee.6)Take responsibility for all receipt and disbursements of all district funds and suggest policies to execute such transactions.7)Act as negotiating officer for all district borrowing in consultation with the Superintendent-Director and the Assistant Treasurer and to present a report to the School Committee at the next meeting.8)Keep currently informed on laws and regulations applicable to the Districts financial functions in accordance with the Massachusetts General Laws.9)Keep currently informed on banking practices, interest rates and economic conditions.10)Responsible for the annual audits to be sure the audit is performed as per audit procedure and reported to the School Committee when finished.11)Provide an annual accounting closure before the School Committee to report on the excess and deficiency accounts, interest earned, outstanding expenditures and anticipated closing balances, as well as, other key financial indicators of fiscal responsibility.12)Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the School Committee.Organizational Relationships: Reports to the School Committee and Superintendent and his or her designee.Qualifications: Degree in accounting or other comparable experience. Experience in all aspects of school finance. Computer skills in spreadsheets.

Certification as a Massachusetts Municipal Treasurer may be substituted for a degree in accounting.Terms of Employment: Annually by vote of the School Committee at their June meeting.Evaluation: Annually by the School Committee at their May meeting.
