Essential Functions of the position are detailed below, and include any physical requirements below that.
- Conduct research through phone calls, online, in-person, and community connections to identify suitable rental properties and apartments.
- Develop relationships with property owners, landlords, and property managers through ongoing outreach.
- Conduct site visits and evaluate housing units to ensure they meet federal and local housing standards.
- Negotiate lease terms with landlords, assist newly arrived refugee clients and landlords in understanding their respective roles and responsibilities, and help clients sign leases and/or housing agreements.
- Once housing is secured, the Housing Specialist will work with the Finance staff to ensure payment of the security deposit, move-in fee, and rent.

Will also collaborate with the case managers to coordinate the move-in date, utility hookup, furniture, and other essential supplies requests to guarantee that all household furniture and supplies are placed in the apartment before the refugees arrive.
- As needed, will collaborate with the case managers, greeting refugees at the airport, transporting them to temporary or permanent housing, and providing support during their adaptation to the United States.
- It may be required to work outside of regular business hours to fulfill clients' needs.
- Participate in weekly meetings with all staff to ensure all services are provided to clients in a timely manner according to the Cooperative Agreement so that the client can reach self-sufficiency.
