**PURPOSE**:
The purpose of this position is to implement laundry procedures to operate the laundry department in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with fedral, state and local requirements. Under the supervision of the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor, performs all duties in a laundry setting, including seperating, washing, drying, sorting, folding, hanging, stacking and delivering resident's personal clothing and facility linen.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
1. Must be able to follow instructions

2. Must have knowledge of commercial laundry

3. Must have knowledge of commercial laundry processes, equipment, and

procedures for both washing and ironing materials.

4. Must be able to stand and walk throughout the shift on cement surface

while performing job duties.

5. Must be able to lift and carrup laundry by self.

6. Must be able to push/pull laundry carts as well as pull wet laundry from

washer to transport to dryer.

7. Must bend, twist and reach throughout shift while performing job duties.

8. Must be able to handle and fold laundry.

9. Must be able to work in heat throughout shift with noise and vibration and around dust,

odors and various cleaning detergents. May be occupationally exposed to blood

and other potential infectious materials. Must be able to comply with infection control procedures

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Follow oral and written instructions

2. Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS)

3. Follow schedules for the laundry department

4. Follow laundry procedures in accordance with facility policy.

5. Follow waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy

6. Properly use and care for laundry equipment

7. Adjust water temperature valves to maintain required temperatures

8. Use laundry supplies properly

9. Operate automated laundry solution dispensing system

10. Handle clean and soiled laundry appropriately

11. Identify and report garments or linens in ill repair to Supervisor

12. Distribute clothing to residents' rooms in accordance with the theft

loss program

13. Identify and report to Supervisor any equipment malfunction

14. Identify and report to Supervisor areas in need of repair

15. Follow infection control procedures through proper handling, storage,

washing and transporting of all garment and linens.

16. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner

17. Observe infection control procedures

18. Follow Residents' Rights policies at all times

19. Observe all facility policies and procedures

20. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner

21. Assume accountability for all data contained in the employees' handbook

22. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
