**Duties**:
**As an Engineering Technician you will**:

- Prepare preliminary and final civil/electrical design drawings for substations. This includes scaled layout drawings showing bus and equipment configurations and foundations, plan and elevation views as well as wiring diagrams using AutoCAD software.
- Prepare material quantity estimates for substations. Calculate cut and fill quantities, foundation design, providing material quantities for both concrete and steel for construction specifications, and determining steel structures for substations using Civil 3D and other applicable software.
- Serve as the authoritative source of technical information on CAE/CAD operational and maintenance procedures for your region.
- Develop and update standards and procedures for CAE/CAD users as well as standard specifications for the related materials, equipment, and software.

- **This position requires the ability to operate a Government vehicle. The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain Defensive Driver's certification and have a valid state driver's license. Defensive Driver's Training will be completed upon employment.**:

- **Occasional travel of up to 5-10% annually is required; with overnight travel possible during all or part of that time.**

**Qualifications**:

- Experience using technical drawing concepts in the preparation of design drawings for construction and maintenance projects which include, building an AutoCAD model.
- Preparation of construction specifications, drawing packages, and standards.
- The ability to complete drafting markups/revisions based on comments from a review or inconsistencies between engineering disciplines, as well as complete the material quantity estimates, structure/foundation/equipment selection from standard library or previous project for review by engineer.
