Heavy Equipment Operator

Under general supervision of the Public Works Utilities Superintendent, a Heavy Equipment Operator operates a variety of light to heavy construction equipment and performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled work in construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town's water and sewer infrastructure. The operation of backhoe/track-hoe equipment is primary to this position as this equipment is essential in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the underground utility systems. The Heavy Equipment Operator will work on the schedule required to fulfill the position's duties. The Heavy Equipment Operator may be called upon to assist with divisions of Public Works, including, but not limited to street and facility maintenance.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, plus three (3) to five (5) years relevant work experience in the construction of water and/or wastewater underground systems, maintenance, or related work experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Required Certifications: ADEQ Water Distribution Grade III certification, ADEQ Wastewater Collections Operator Grade IV certification. Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Class A Commerical Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement. Work-Zone certification, Asbestos certification, Trench Safety certification, or be able to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.
