Position: Sanitation Team Individual

Reports to: Plant manager Position Location: (Alameda)

Goals of Position: The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall sanitation standards of Firebrand Artisan Breads in Alameda. You are responsible for ensuring that our production area, equipment, and tools are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to industry regulations and internal guidelines. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment will contribute to our continued success in delivering high-quality bakery products to our customers.

Sanitation Procedures: Execute and follow standardized sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing Equipment: Clean and sanitize production equipment, including mixing bowls, ovens, bakery and kitchen equipment, and machinery.
- Facility Cleaning: Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of production areas, storage areas, bathrooms, offices, floors, walls, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Waste Disposal: Properly handle and dispose of waste, including recyclables, organic materials, and hazardous waste, adhering to waste management guidelines and regulations according to Alameda County regulations.
- Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections to identify and report any sanitation-related issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date sanitation records, including cleaning logs, checklists, and other required documentation for audits and inspections.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Collaboration: Coordinate and communicate with other team members, including production staff, maintenance personnel, supervisors and managers, to ensure efficient operations and sanitation practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest recommendations to enhance sanitation practices, efficiency, and overall hygiene within the facility.
- Communication: use Slack as a means to communicate with your team. This includes notifying the team if you will be late to work, if you will miss work, posting pictures of cleaning logs, posting pictures of areas that need improved cleaning, and praising your coworkers.
- Report Problems: Notify the sanitation manager of any broken equipment or needs for new tools and chemicals.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and their appropriate usage.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness standards consistently.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, bending and lifting.
- Strong sense of teamwork and communication.
