Shipping and Receiving Clerk/forklift Operator

**Summary/Objective**
The shipping and receiving clerk position receives, stores and distributes material, tools, equipment and products within the warehouse, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all job functions.

**Essential Functions**

- Assist the shipping and receiving department with loading and unloading of trucks.
- Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed and/or shipped.
- Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Position and relocate trucks and trailers between warehouses to ensure efficient shipping operations. (Note: Must possess valid Class A CDL)
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
- File requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distribute items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area.
- Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for all employee, salespeople and customer traffic.
- Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets, shelves, or relocate to a holding area.
- Open bales, crates, and other containers.
- Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Assist in counting of physical inventory.
- Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
- Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times.
- Follow all OSHA rules and company safety policies.
- Unload rail cars into designated silos.
- Fill sacks with sand from silos to prescribed weights.
- Fill pneumatic trucks with sand per procedure.
- Kitty products from larger packaging containers to smaller packaging containers.
- Operate all MHE as required.
- Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve overall team operations.
- Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and constructive feedback.

**Supervisory Responsibility**
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

**Work Environment**
This position works in a warehouse setting with outdoor exposure during the workday. Duties will be performed outside in weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines and standard warehouse equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, box cutters and stretch wrappers.

**Physical Demands**
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand to handle of feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing regularly throughout the shift. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb and balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh in excess of 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

**Position Type/Expected Hours of Work**
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime is occasionally required.

**Travel**
No travel other than between warehouses is expected for this position.

**Required Education and Experience**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift experience.

**Additional Eligibility Qualifications**
- One year of prior forklift and warehouse experience.
