**General Statement of Duties**

Provides a variety of treatment and/or prevention services to clients with a wide range of psychiatric, emotional, relational, substance abuse or social problems; may provide consultation and education services to specific populations; does related work as required.

**Essential Duties**

Position is responsible for providing a wide range of clinical services to clients in a community mental health setting located at the East End Office. Job duties include evaluation and assessment procedures, along with conducting various individual, family and group counseling sessions. The applicant should have well developed skills to effectively manage a diverse client caseload, be an effective communicator, and have sufficient written and computer skills to complete detailed authoritative clinical records and professional communications. Additionally, extensive knowledge about and experience working with substance abuse problems and related mental health difficulties is required. Job duties usually require evening work.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Possession of a two (2)-year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting [for a one-year degree, one(1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training]; OR, a bachelor's degree in related field plus four (4) years of experience in a community mental health setting; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

**Additional Information**

Must hold or be qualified to work toward licensure (LPC or LCSW) or accreditation for the appropriate discipline is required. Co-occurring experience in mental health and substance abuse strongly preferred. Valid Virginia driver's license required. TB Screening and Child Protective Services Record Check required, upon hire.
