**Teacher Elementary Grades 1st-5th**

**WHO YOU ARE**:
**A dedicated elementary school teacher who will seek to accomplish MPTCS’s philosophy of education through instruction and example and provide lessons that meet students' requirements, interests, and capabilities. You will take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, and keep accurate records in compliance with relevant laws, policies, and regulations. You will collaborate with the administration to create and implement rules and policies regulating student conduct. You will have the ability to form interpersonal relationships with all your students and take an interest in their general well-being.**

**Do you have what it takes?**
- **Education and Experience**:

- **A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.**
- **A New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) in Elementary School Teacher in Grades K-6**

**THE ROLE**:

- **Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.**
- **Evaluate student progress regularly and prepare progress reports.**
- **Instructs students in citizenship, basic communications skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the district.**
- **Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and special abilities.**
- **Instruct students in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment, and materials.**
- **Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment.**
- **Selects and requisitions books, instructional materials, equipment, and aids and maintains required inventory records.**
- **Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction**
- **Develops and maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.**
- **Supervises out-of-classroom activities for students during the assigned working day, as required.**
- **Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.**
- **Identifies students' needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.**
- **Communicate with parents and student personnel staff members on the individual student's progress and development.**
- **Develops and participates in the sponsorship of student activities and faculty committees.**
- **Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.**
- **Performs other duties as assigned**
- **Salary range: BA $61,912 - $86,912 / MA $62,412 - $87,412**
- **Term of Employment: 10.5 Months**
- **Union: MPTEA**
