Under close supervision the primary function is to perform grass cutting and grounds maintenance duties. When rain and/or inclement weather prevents grass cutting, or when directed, this position will also assist the maintenance department personnel with various maintenance tasks. Typical grounds maintenance tasks would include: operating tractors pulling bush hogs or bat-wing mowers, operating gasoline powered hand held weed eaters and trimmers, operating push type and riding mowers, watering all landscapes, spraying lawns, shrubs, trees and other landscape locations with fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides as directed, weeding and mulching all gardens and landscapes, trimming and pruning hedges, shrubs, and trees, raking and picking-up trash and debris generated by all grass cutting and grounds maintenance activities, cleaning all equipment used in the grass cutting and grounds maintenance activities and driving company supplied vehicles (truck and utility vehicles) on site to the area to be worked. Overtime grass cutting work may be required to keep the grass at proper heights during the high growth months. The overtime work will usually be performed on Fridays, and occasionally Saturdays. When grass cutting is not needed or when directed, perform the duties of a maintenance trades helper which would typically include: assisting one or more workers in certain skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools; cleaning the working area and/or equipment located in the field or in the maintenance shop; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed. Typical overall maintenance tasks would include the repair, inspection, and functional testing of motor operated valves, associated valve actuators, various instrumentation systems and various electrical and hydraulic control systems. Certain tasks may be performed in confined space locations. Performs other duties as assigned, following approved procedures.**Job Opening and Closing Dates**

- REQUIRED: High school Diploma or GED, and two years practical experience in industrial or institutional grass cutting and grounds maintenance, or similar work, and corresponding experience in utilizing and operating lawn and grounds maintenance equipment and/or tools. Ability to be qualified to operate a grass cutting tractor and all other grounds maintenance equipment. Ability to work well independently and on a team CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES: Valid Class E State Drivers License
