Huckleberry Bakery & Cafe - What started off as a series of weekend breakfast pop-ups at Rustic Canyon turned into this Santa Monica Farmers’ Market-inspired bakery, cafe and marketplace that debuted in February 2009. Pastry Chef/Partner Laurel Almerinda keeps the pastry case overflowing with biscuits, tarts and doughnuts, and so much more, while the kitchen team whips up an all-day breakfast and lunch menu of egg dishes, salads, sandwiches and dinner-friendly take & bake items. The marketplace contains the best, organic fruits & vegetables from the nearby farmers’ market, jars of salad dressing, salsa & pesto, housemade baking mixes, pantry items from our favorite artisans, plus more. Zoe, Josh and Laurel also published a cookbook in 2014 called Huckleberry: Stories, Secrets and Recipes from our Kitchen. It features over 115 simple recipes for our signature pastries and sweet/savory breakfast dishes.
The front of house interacts with the guests to ensure they have a great dining experience. Front of house is responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, counter staff is expected to be attentive to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.

As a Lead, you will assist the managers in executing store operations during your scheduled shifts. You will oversee service, position staff, delegate tasks, and provide support to all positions. You will lead the staff in creating the Huckleberry experience for our customers by engaging with all guests in a warm and welcoming manner, providing prompt service, ensuring only the highest quality of food and beverage is served, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. You are responsible for maintaining the coffee program at Huckleberry. You will be responsible for ordering all coffee related items, taking inventory each month, training all employees in this area and ensuring that the coffee program stays consistent and up to Huckleberry’s standards. Leadership skills, time management, efficiency and a positive attitude are all an integral part of being the lead barista.

Duties and responsibilities

As lead, your job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Opening / Closing Lead Counter Duties
- Maintaining the coffee program
- R+D of new items for the beverage program
- Train baristas
- Meeting with GM once a week to discuss coffee program
- Orders coffee
- Inventory
- Maintains coffee equipment

**Requirements**:

- **Must be available to work weekends - we need full weekend availability**:

- Minimum 1 year barista experience
- Minimum 6 months supervisor/lead barista experience
- Food Handlers Permit
- Excellent customer service skills
- Friendly and outgoing
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Coffee knowledge
- On time and professional

Physical Demands
- Requires moderate physical effort. Standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing, lifting of weight up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions
- Noise, heat, temperature changes, kitchen elements, odors, moisture, etc. May be required to work additional hours as dictated by the workload and staffing. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
