**Animal Behavior Assistant**

The Animal Behavior Assistant will assist in providing assessment, socialization, behavior modification and enrichment for shelter animals. Assist in providing behavior consultation and training for the public, staff, volunteers, and shelter pet adoptees. Assist in keeping adopted animals in their homes through post adoption support.

**Position Requirements**:

- Commitment to humane treatment of animals
- Good customer service skills.
- Familiarity with SAFER and Feline-ality Assessments.
- Knowledge of health, behavioral conditions, body language and animal handling.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terms and processes; or willingness to learn.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures and safety standards.
- Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management skills and prioritize workload.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Successful organizational skills.
- Possess effective teamwork skills and effective communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and over 50 lbs. with assistance.

**Qualifications**:

- A certification from an accredited dog training academy. CPDT-KA or willingness to attain certification within the first 2 years of employment preferred.
- Associates degree or above preferred.
- 1-3 years’ experience working in the companion animal field.
- Valid driving license and clean driving record.
- Knowledge of Pet Point system a plus; basic computer experience required.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
