**Job Summary**: The Cart Attendant is an entry-level position responsible for exceptional execution of customer service in the store, parking lots, and entrance/exits of the stores. S/he is solely accountable for the overall aesthetic appearance of the parking lot. S/he must ensure that all customer carts are retrieved and stored properly in the cart corral or designated cart areas. Occasionally s/he will assist customers with the delivery and loading of their groceries into their vehicles. Based upon business needs, a cart attendant may be called upon to assist with actual store operation activities such as stocking shelves, assisting with customers, and cleaning. As a team member of Pete’s Fresh Market it is important that Pete’s Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service are always exemplified.

**Essential Job Responsibilities**
- Demonstrate the ability to retrieve and maintain all the carts on the company property.
- Ensure the return of all carts to their designated storage areas.
- Recognize and identify carts that have fallen out of the boundaries of the store and retrieve them, if necessary.
- Greet customers with outstanding customer service and offer your assistance if needed.
- Maintain a clean parking lot, side walk, entrance, and exit of the store, ensuring the area is clear for customers and employees.
- Greet and assist customers to carry heavy objects.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education/Certifications**
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment.
- Must have a valid and up to date Food Handler’s Certificate.

**Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.
- Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.

**Work Environment/ Physical Demands**
- Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
- Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.
- Must have reliable source of transportation.
