DUTIES:

- Under the direction of the Cemetery Manager, to perform all types of cemetery operational, maintenance and development activities.
- Excavating of graves and all related interment functions.
- Sodding, seeding, and related landscape duties.
- Marker setting, road and fence repairs, ground care and maintenance, and cemetery clean-up.
- Other related duties as assigned.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Ability to work cooperatively with the public, co-workers and supervisors, and execute assignments promptly.
- Mature judgment, initiative, poise, tact, and affability, and the ability to represent the Catholic Cemeteries creditably in all public contacts.
- Ability to read cemetery maps and planographs.
- Ability to fulfill the five day work week and work overtime when necessary, and work the established hours for the position.
- Ability to walk on potentially uneven ground and work outdoors in potentially inclement weather.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Possession of a valid State-issued Driver’s license.
- Five years of successful work experience in cemetery maintenance, landscaping, construction, agricultural and mechanical activity desired.
- Practicing Catholic with an understanding of Catholic faith practices preferred.
- Must be a High School Graduate or have a G.E.D. Certificate.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- A valid Illinois Dept. of Agriculture Pesticide Operator license or ability to obtain such license within six months preferred.
- Ability to learn to operate various pieces of cemetery equipment, up to and including a backhoe.
- Confirmation of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of toxicological testing and the physical examination that are required for employment in this position.
- Consideration may be given to those who possess the essential functions and the majority of the other requirements, providing that they have sufficient verifiable related work experience.

Pay: From $23.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
