The **Post Award Analyst** uses advanced contracts and grants concepts to manage high volume and high complexity transactions. Reviews and guides others in the review of financial and administrative management requirements of research contract and grant proposals, awards, and / or transactions to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies. Works independently to assess complex grant, contract and subcontract transactions where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. May be eligible for delegated signature authority. May review and sign transactions for less experienced staff. May serve as a technical specialist in a particular area, such as federal contracts, state contracts, subcontracts or information systems.
- Central Role:

- This position provides budget detail, analysis and recommendations to the CAO to inform strategic decisions on new and existing programs. This requires monthly monitoring of a variety of funding streams and payroll distributions for Faculty, Non-Faculty Academics and Staff in the department and regularly entering funding information in UCPath for payroll changes.
- Responsibilities include oversight of monthly Budget Status Report (BSR) reports, payroll distributions, financial status reports and subcontract invoicing. In collaboration with Research Management Services, this position also oversees the progress of outgoing proposals. This position also reviews compliance issues according to campus guidelines and federal A-21, A-110 and A-133 regulations as well as monitoring of National Institutes of Health (NIH) Effort Reporting and the work of the department’s Effort Reporting Coordinator.
- In addition to the financial oversight of Principal Investigator (PI) portfolios, this position also provides financial oversight for the American Course on Drug Development and Regulatory Sciences (ACDRS) Program, the Bioengineering Graduate Program, the Clinical Pharmacology Training Program (CPT), the Master of Translational Medicine degree program (MTM), and the Pharmacokinetics for Pharmaceutical Scientists (PK Course).
- Lastly, this position serves as a journal approver for the department. This includes approval of Deposit and Credit Card Journals including recharge and cost transfer, financial journals, and payroll expense transfers regularly.For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

**Department Description**
- The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences (BTS) reports to both the School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy. Its faculty perform high-quality basic, translational and clinical research in the fields of drug development, Pharmacogemonics, Therapeutic Engineering and Computational biology. It educates PharmDs, MDs, Masters in Translational Medicine and PhDs in bioengineering and therapeutic sciences.
- BTS maintains a core administrative unit led by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and supported by finance and administrative units.

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
- Ability to manage high volume and complex transactions.
- Ability to perform highly complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
- Demonstrated advanced competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
- Ability to interpret policy for others.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Proven ability to deal with diverse personalities, show flexibility and adapt to change.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Extensive knowledge of program administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
- Advanced knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
- Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements.
